Esperienza Virtuale - Italian Immersion Program
Course Level Summary
course Levels
Our Italian language courses, based on the Common European Framework of Reference, range from Beginning (A1) to Advanced Level (C2) and provide a full program of study all year round. Our program is designed to allow you to grow in your proficiency based on the general levels described below. Click here for details of the progression chart and courses.
BEGINNING & Pre-intermediate LEVELs (A1 & A2): Break-Through Period
Starting with minimal knowledge of Italian, your skills will evolve and improve. You will feel more comfortable using familiar everyday expressions and basic phrases aimed at satisfying basic needs. You will learn how to introduce yourselves and others, ask and answer questions about personal details such as where you live, people you know, etc. You'll learn to interact with others, provided they talk slowly.
INTERMEDIATE LEVELs (B1 & B2): Consolidation Period
You will understand sentences and frequently-used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment). At this level, you will learn how to communicate in routine situations. You'll be able to describe in simple terms many different aspects of your background, immediate environment and immediate needs.
ADVANCED LEVEL (C1/C2): Fluency Period
The linguistic horizons of students already having achieved a good level of language ability will be broadened. Now, the language course will put more emphasis on written language, communication skills will be enhanced, and grammatical skills will be consolidated.
